Fern Pine Designs is founded and operated by Aaron Skinner. With over 25 years of experience in the landscape industry, he can fine tune a design for any space.

Aaron has studied extensively at some of the world’s most renowned gardens and has specialties in Native Plants and Japanese gardens.

Beyond these, he will listen to the specific needs of each client and create a unique custom design for each individual.

With a passion for wildlife sanctuary gardens and creating spaces for spiritual reflection, Aaron specializes in the marriage of humanity and the natural world.

Aaron started his career studying organic agriculture and worked on almost every continent learning food production techniques from various indigenous communities. He was also at the for front of the movement bringing organic agriculture to the masses in the late 90’s and 2000’s.

After moving into the landscape industry, Aaron studied bonsai techniques in the US and Japan and attributed some of them into the development of the field of fine pruning in the United States. He is a Plant Amnesty Certified Master Pruner.

Over the years he has worked on multimillion dollar homes in the Puget Sound and is currently transforming a property outside Atlanta. He was the Head Gardener and Assistant Project Manager during construction at the Seattle Chinese Garden. His experience with all regions of the country allows him the opportunity to work on projects nation wide.

There is not a type of garden or particular element Aaron hasn’t installed: water features, irrigation, vegetable gardens, stone paving and walls, decks and fences, lighting, and container plantings are only the tip of the iceberg.

Most recently he has focused on native plant installations and incorporating native species into otherwise traditional designs. His unique in-depth knowledge of a wide range of design styles and native plants allows him to find the perfect plant for any situation.
